Greek National Robotics Team
The First Global Challenge Team Greece was founded in 2018 by Eduact and Mathisis.org with the aim of broadening the horizons of children in Greece dealing with robotics, programming and engineering.
Eduact sent an open invitation in April 2018 to sign up for as many kids as they wanted and so the team was created. A selection of 10 children from all over Greece along with their 2 coaches and mentors began preparing for the Mexico Olympics in the summer of 2018.
After the Olympics, the team members organised many activities, presentations and workshops for children, as the First Global Challenge Team Greece's goal is to promote STEM and FIRST Core Values, to recruit more young students passionate for learning, fun and success through robotics programmes.
Since last April an open invitation was once more sent to renew the team. Participation this year was beyond any expectation. The team has received over 200 requests! In the end, 22 children were selected based not only on their abilities and knowledge in various fields and their experience in international and global robotics competitions, but also for their love and joy in what they do.
The team had to face many difficulties from the beginning, despite the efforts. There was no funding. There was no room for training. There were no sponsors. But we have overcome these obstacles with joy, patience and a lot of work!
The goal of this season is to build a united team within the spirit of FIRST, expand our knowledge of robot design and engineering techniques, to secure the future of the team, to keep on inspiring as many children as we can to do science, robotics, programming and engineering and finally to offer everyone opportunities of learning and self-development!

Our Vision
• To evolve into an educational carrier, beyond the narrow confines of a robotics team, into a living cell that will evolve and grow.
• Create STEM Ambassadors especially at the ages of 13 - 18, where there is a large gap, as opportunities are scarce and the burden falls exclusively on sterile and exhaustive preparation for entry into higher education. • To prepare the next generation of mentors, who will lead the field of Science and especially STEM. • To give everyone involved the opportunity to develop the skills necessary for the current era, but also for the one approaching (soft skills, digital skills). • To design, organize and conduct workshops for children and adolescents to be conducted by adolescents themselves with the supervision of their mentors. • Consistently participate in the FIRST GLOBAL CHALLENGE & FIRST TECH CHALLENGE world robotics competitions and support with the know-how and experience of any team wishing to participate in the FIRST LEGO LEAGUE & FLL Jr competitions or any other competition. • Motivate and inspire all community members through their action and the provision of information and training opportunities. • To have a permanent headquarters that will be the reference point for its preparation and all its actions. • Activate all stakeholders that could participate / assist in its work and ensure collaborations across the nation and globally with STEM education stakeholders. |
